One of the best things about crochet is that we can learn interesting new stitches with ease. We can also change the appearance without changing the stitch by adapting it to what we need.

We are going to show you how to crochet Chain Loop Stitch so you can get a “furry” effect, made with lots of chains.

Chain Loop Stitch

To make this stitch, you’ll need to learn to make an extended single crochet; but don’t worry because you can see complete instructions in our video:

To make this stitch use any number of chains + 2 for the foundation chain. Be sure not to pull the stitches too tightly in the foundation chain.

Row 1 (wrong side): make 1 extended single crochet into the third stitch from the crochet hook, then make 1 extended single crochet into each stitch until the end of the row. Turn your work.

Row 2: chain one, make one single crochet through the front loop into the first extended single crochet, * chain 6, make one single crochet through the front loop into the next extended single crochet*. Repeat from * to * until the end, ending with a single crochet through the front loop into the last extended single crochet. Turn your work.

Row 3: chain one, make one extended single crochet through the empty loop of the extended single crochet from 2 rows below. Continue making one extended single crochet through the empty loop from 2 rows below until you reach the end. Turn your work.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you reach the desired length.

Remember that you can vary the number of chain stitches in your turning chain in row 2 to get longer or shorter loops; it’s your choice! You can also achieve different results depending on the material that you use, such as cotton or wool.

What would you use this stitch for?

It would look great on a jacket and to give texture to your amigurumis.
