In this tutorial we are going to learn how to knit the lacy butterfly stitch. It is a relatively easy stitch to do if you follow the instructions below.
To do this stitch you just need some pima cotton from We are knitters and size 8 needles. To make this stitch you need to cast on a multiple of 10 stitches plus 5 extra stitches, which is what used for our example.
Rows 1 and 3: Knit 5. *Knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 1, yarn over, 1 SKPO (slip, knit, pass over), knit 5.* Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

3. Slip 1
4. Pass stitch over
Rows 2 and 4: *purl 7, slip 1, purl 2 together*. Repeat from * to * until there are 5 stitches left, purl 5.
5. Slip 1
Rows 5 and 11: knit all stitches.
6. Knit stitches
Rows 6 and 12: purl all stitches.
7. Purl stitches
Rows 7 and 9: *knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 1, yarn over, 1 SKPO, knit 5*. Repeat from * to * until there are 5 stitches left. Knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 1, yarn over, 1 SKPO.
Rows 8 and 10: *purl 2 together, slip 1, purl 7*. Repeat from * to * until there are 5 stitches left. Purl 2, slip 1, purl 2.
