Now that nice weather and vacation are just around the corner it’s the perfect time to head outside with your camera around your neck and capture summer’s special moments.

For today’s blog entry we are going to teach you how to crochet a pretty and practical strap for your camera!

MATERIALS

To make your camera strap you will need:

100% Pima Cotton – color natural (Color A)

100% Pima Cotton – color aquamarine (Color B)

(Or you can choose your favorite combination)

– A US size 8 crochet hook (5 mm)

-2 metal buckles or ring

-Scissors and a tapestry needle

Chain 8 using color A.

Row 1: starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, 7 half double crochets until the end of the row.

Chain 1 and turn your work.

Row 2: Crochet another 7 half double crochets to the end of the row, just like you did for row 1.

Rows 3-54: Keep repeating the same as for row 2 until you reach row 54.

Row 55: Change to color B, chain 1 and 1 half double crochet in the first stitch of the row, just as you have been doing for the previous rows. Work the remaining 6 half double crochets to finish the row.

Row 56 – 60: with color A work all stitches in half double crochet. (Remember that you can hide the tail end of color B using tapestry crochet).

Rows 61-62: with color B work all in half double crochet.

Rows 63-66: with color A work all in half double crochet.

Rows 67-69: with color B work all in half double crochet.

Rows 70-72: with color A work all in half double crochet.

Rows 73-94: with color B work all in half double crochet.

Row 95: finish your work by working the last row in slip stitch. Cut the yarn leaving a long tail end to sew your project.

Insert about 1 inch of the strap into the buckle and fold the end.

Thread a tapestry needle with the yarn tail and sew the end of the strap around the buckle.

Repeat the same for the other end of the strap.

Voilà!

Your strap is all ready to show off with your camera!

You can create different looks by combining different colors of WAK cotton.
